The SAT remains a digital, multistage adaptive test delivered through Bluebook for standard administrations. It reports a Reading and Writing section score from 200 to 800 and a Math section score from 200 to 800. The combined score ranges from 400 to 1600.
The structure is stable, but a third-party calculator should not advertise one universal 2026 conversion table as official. College Board scoring considers question characteristics through item response theory. Different forms can therefore produce slightly different scaled outcomes even when students answer the same number of questions correctly.
A 2026 calculator should reflect the digital module structure and current official practice workflow. The year does not make an estimate official, and it does not eliminate form-level uncertainty.
The current Digital SAT format
Reading and Writing contains 54 questions across two 32-minute modules. Math contains 44 questions across two 35-minute modules. A 10-minute break separates the sections, making the testing time 2 hours and 14 minutes before breaks and administrative steps.
Each section begins with a Module 1 that mixes difficulty levels. Performance there determines whether Module 2 has a higher or lower average difficulty mix. Students may move among questions within the active module, but they cannot return to Module 1 after that module ends.

Percentiles need current context
A percentile describes how a score compares with a reference group. It does not show the percentage of test questions answered correctly. For example, a score labeled near the 75th percentile indicates performance at or above roughly three quarters of the comparison group, not 75 percent raw accuracy.
Percentile tables can update as College Board publishes new cohorts, so use them as context rather than a permanent conversion. Colleges also differ in the score ranges of their applicants and enrolled students. A national percentile is useful, but it is not a personalized admission probability.
Build a plan around evidence
Start with one full-length Bluebook practice test under realistic timing. Review the official score and question details in My Practice. Group missed questions by section, domain, and cause: missing knowledge, wrong method, careless execution, or time pressure.
